Safety of Bleaching Teeth

The practice of bleaching teeth is very safe to use when you want to have whiter teeth. You can choose products that you can use on your own at home or begin the procedure in a dentist's office. Both of these are similar in the methodology that you use in bleaching teeth.

Dental bleaching procedures for teeth

When you visit the dentist, he/she will be able to assess your need to have whiter teeth and will therefore know the appropriate strength of the whitening gel to use. There are several steps to this procedure, which include:

• Assessment, which is done in the first visit.
• The dentist needs to take an impression of your teeth to make the mold. This may or may not be done during the first visit.
• When the molds are ready, the dentist will show you how to dispense the gel into the tray and fit it over your teeth. The first application will be done in the office, but after than you can do them on your own at home.

The dentist will also give you specific instructions about using the gel because it does contain either carbamide or hydrogen peroxide that you should not allow on your gums.

At home tooth bleaching

You don't have to visit the dentist to have the bleaching procedures for teeth. There are many of these products on the market that contain standard size molds or trays and the gel you need for whitening your teeth. You may have to boil the molds to soften them enough to fit comfortably over your teeth. Each night you fill the tray with the gel and fit the trays over your teeth. Remove them in the morning and clean them carefully so you can reuse them again.

When you are using a whitening procedure, you have to realize that it is next to impossible to get your teeth as white as they were when you were a child. You will also have to repeat the application at least every six months and use whitening toothpastes each day.
